Public Land Order No. 7971; Extension of Withdrawal of Public Land for the United States Army, Fort Carson-Piñon Canyon Maneuver Site, Colorado

This Public Land Order (PLO) extends the duration of the withdrawal established by the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1997 and extended by PLO No. 7783 for an additional 15-year period. The withdrawal would otherwise expire on September 22, 2026. The Act withdrew approximately 3,133 acres of public lands and approximately 11,415 acres of federally owned minerals at the Fort Carson Military Reservation, and approximately 2,517 acres of public lands and approximately 130,139 acres of federally owned minerals at the Army's Pi[ntilde]on Canyon Maneuver Site. This extension is necessary to allow and protect the Army's exclusive use of the area for military maneuvering, training and weapons firing, and other defense- related purposes consistent with those specified in the Act. The official record describes this as a completed action.
